New photographs of Alfa Romeo's upcoming Gloria concept have surfaced online, ahead of its official debut at subsequent month’s Geneva Motor Show.

Revealing the rear of the concept and a sketched glimpse of the cabin, the new photos appeared on Russian web site CarDesign.ru this week.

Styled by the European Design Institute (IED) and Alfa Romeo Concept Centro Stile, the Gloria presents a potential rival for Audi’s A5 Sportback, with its 4700mm length and swooping roofline a near match for the Audi.

That includes organic lines and comparable detailing to Alfa’s 2uettottanta 2010 idea, the Gloria is designed to go well with premium sedan-hungry US and Asian markets.

"In effect, the saloon remains a symbol of elegance and prestige for these markets, associated with the concept of snug space each at the entrance and the rear, expressed by the length of the mannequin," Alfa Romeo says of the Gloria.

Alfa Romeo boss Sergio Marchionne hinted in November that a large Alfa sedan is on the cardsr, sharing a lot with the upcoming Maserati Ghibli sub-Quattroporte model.

Such a mannequin would sit atop the upcoming Alfa Romeo Giulia midsizer, forming a flagship for Alfa Romeo’s future sedan lineup.

Specific particulars must wait till the Gloria’s physical unveiling, however Alfa’s press material suggests a manufacturing mannequin may use a V6 or V8 twin turbo drivetrain - probably the 2013 Quattroporte engines additionally destined for the Ghibli.
